Tweakments – the subtle anti-ageing solutions that keep everyone guessing – Epxlife
Skip to content
The latest buzz in anti-aging treatments is all about tweakments. These are subtle enhancements that give your skin a fresh glow without making it look overly done. Beauty expert Alice Hart-Davis sheds some light on this trend.
Tweakments are more than your regular facial but don’t go as far as cosmetic surgery. These treatments include Botox, fillers, skin peels, intense pulsed light, lasers, thread lifts, and more. They are usually non-invasive or minimally invasive and offer noticeable, though temporary and subtle, results—provided you choose a skilled doctor.
I’ve actually written a book called “The Tweakments Guide: Fresher Face” and started a website, thetweakmentsguide.com, to help explain these procedures. My goal is to clear up any confusion about what tweakments are and how they work. I believe that open and honest discussions are essential for better understanding these options and their benefits.
As a beauty journalist, I’ve seen the shift in attitude towards tweakments over the past 20 years. Initially, these procedures were seen as shocking and somewhat taboo. However, the stigma around treatments like Botox and fillers has decreased significantly over time.
Nowadays, there are many more procedures available, ranging from laser facials and ultrasound skin tightening to microneedling and injectable moisturizers that promise genuine skin regeneration lasting up to six months. According to a Mintel report from last year, 43 percent of people are interested in trying non-surgical cosmetic procedures.
Tweakments were originally targeted at reducing signs of aging, like frown lines and nasal folds, for an older audience. However, they are now used by people of all ages to enhance features such as lip shape and cheek definition, or even to create a balanced jawline. Treatments like Profhilo boost skin hydration, and ultrasound therapy offers a subtle non-surgical facelift.
Younger generations are more open to discussing and showcasing their tweakment results, especially on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram. The growing number of practitioners offering these treatments across the country is a double-edged sword: while accessibility has increased, the lack of regulation means it’s crucial to choose a well-trained and experienced practitioner. My website offers a practitioner finder to help people locate reputable professionals.
Alice Hart-Davis is a British journalist who specializes in beauty and cosmetic procedures. Her book “The Tweakments Guide: Fresher Face” and her website offer valuable independent advice on non-surgical aesthetic treatments, including tools for finding the best options and practitioners in the UK.
